Peder Lunde jr. (Olympic Gold medal winner in sailing), founded Godhaab Insurance at Lysaker ( Oslo ) in 1992. The idea at that time, as now, is that international insurance providers can offer far better terms and conditions than the traditional domestic insurance companies. Godhaab Insurance merged into Quality Group in 1996.

Since the start in 1992, Quality Maritime Insurance has taken a dominant market share in the domestic (Scandinavian market), and is today the most preferred partner for higher value vessels (both Motor and Sailing) and finer yachts. Quality Maritime Insurance (as part of the Quality Holding Group), will continue to grow in the Scandinavian market as well as in the Mediterranean market with clients cross-bordering their vessels as well as having second homes.
